Who We Are

HISTORY

Community Church started in 1935 just down the street from its current location at 1234 NW Main St in Baker City, Oregon. Lee Farmer was the original minister, having attended seminary in Minnesota, and the first church building was the old schoolhouse at 4321 NW Main. The first Sunday saw a turnout of 8 individuals, including 3 children.

The church quickly grew as the city expanded with new industry and an influx of new families. With more members came the need for more space, and the church purchased the current building's property in 1947. Construction was completed in the summer of 1948, and the church has met at its current location for nearly sixty years.

BELIEFS

We believe in God in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the saving work of Jesus on the Cross.
We believe in Communion as a sacrament in remembrance of Jesus' work.
We believe in the Bible as God's authoritative word.
We believe in the gathering of the saints for worship, preaching, prayer, and fellowship.

FLAVOR

We are a friendly, family-oriented church, grounded in the truth of God's word, but very much realizing that the world is an ever-changing place.

Our strengths are incredible worship music, impacting life messages, and powerful seasons of prayer and seeking the face of God together.
